Our Activities
What We Do & How We Do Them
Our primary focus for students is Fundamental English Literacy (Reading, Writing and Speaking) and Foundational Math Skills. We will provide direct homework assistance, which gradually empower students to effectively understand and communicate in his/her school community and neighborhood. Because many of the parents of our students are Limited English Proficient, they are unable to participate and in school activities or assist with homework. Therefore, additionally, office hours were provided daily so that we can offer Parent Support Services (translators for school visitations, conferences, and school support forms completions, etc.) for all students that are enrolled in our program.
We just finished our Remote Summer Camp which was held via Zoom meeting with our students and are looking for a local so we can start out in person activities.
But start the next year and till 3 years from now, we will continue to provide English Literacy and Math Support, and Homework assistance for students. Additionally, students will participate in the application of English-Speaking skills through our weekly Seminar Conversation Circles and Public Speaking opportunities. Parent Support Services (translators for school visitations, conferences, and school support forms completions, etc.) will continue to be provided. We will continue our English and Math support for our older students through a “Targeted Homework Assistance Program” which focuses on subject specific one on one tutorial based on individual student need.
Students also will engage in a larger “Social Development Program” which will provide our older students with skills and support that allow their transition to the next level in their larger social environment by participating in a “Public Speaking Forums” and our “Civics in Action Program”. The “Public Speaking Forums” will provide advanced opportunities for students to apply and utilize English speaking skills to address and discuss current events.
The “Civics in Action Program” will provide our students with a curriculum to achieve greater understanding of their personal civic roles and responsibility such as understanding the constitution, exploring how local, state and federal government works, learning to participate in democratic society, understanding voting and civil rights, and community service.
Parents Support Services (translators for school visitations, conferences, and school support forms completions, etc.) will be also provided.
Finally, and hopefully at the end of the year, we will have our big community center with everything. See the shape for illustration.
